Bagster tankbags

Don't forget your towel
My BMW issue tankbag has seen better days, the zipper problems were bad enough but now it's delaminating, so....

The "bagster" line looks good, I like the tank cover part and the (apparent) ease of removal of the bag. They don't specifically list a model for my 1991 K100RS, plain Ks and LTs but no RS, anybody using one? Does the bag inhibit steering lock? One of the nice things about the BMW bag is how narrow it is. $150 for the cover and $150 for the bag is steeper than I want to jump into without asking, TIA

The RS gas tank is the same as the plain so that would work.

The only downside to a bagster is that they are made in France, which can make having one repaired a little difficult. I bought a used one that has one of the clips on the base coming off a little but I'm still able to use it.

No interference with steering. I haven't tried locking the steering with it on but I am able to turn the wheel all the way so that shouldn't be an issue.

Refueling just requires flipping the bag up and out of the way. The base has a hole in it to access the gas tank.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking the inner fairing pieces might interfer with the cover fitting properly.

I have a friend that had the little metal clips on his bagster replaced with fastex clips. I think he had a local tailor or cobbler do it for him.

Fastex

Kbasa, any other information on the fastex clips? Do you mean the kind that are everywhere that you pinch the two sides of it to pull a male out of a female piece like on the pic below or something else?

On mine, it looks like someone tried to remove the bag before unclipping one of the clips. The clip on the base looks like it is "stapled" into the base and it pulled out and bent a little. I was able to re-bend and that has helped.

That's exactly what he used, Cuervo. The little 1" jobs. He had some nylon webbing sewn onto the cover with part of the clip held hostage in a short loop. the other end was just a length of webbing sewn onto the bag with the male part of the clip on the end. He can tension the strap to keep the bag tight that way. He did it originally because he thought the metal clips they use allowed too much freeplay in the bag.

If I recall, and it's been a while now, he used the stock locations on the bags.

In other neat fastex solutions, I've seen a guy that modified his camelback with fastex clips to clip directly to his Aerostich. Neat.
