Canadians and the 2025 Rally

1987r100rs

To my fellow Canucks: given what is going on politically between Canada and the US, are you still going to attend the Rally?
I have very mixed feelings....

The original post was NOT a political discussion. The original post was simply asking if the current political situation was going to affect anyones travel plans.
I will not travel to the U.S this year, and that’s a shame.

Agreed. As a fellow Canadian, but residing in the US, I share the concerns, as I suspect people from many other countries do too. It is a real shame. Fortunately, there are many others wonderful places to ride or vacation.

I think this is a very interesting question and perspective.

One of the very few things we all have control over is how, where and why we spend our money. Spending "intentionally" seems logical and worthwhile to me. That is, spend where, how and why to make a difference to you...supporting what you believe and value.

I hope many more people spend in concert with their values. Carry on...

My big ride this year is aimed at the Trans Taiga on a KTM. Not sure how far I'll get on my Beemers this year. But there's a good chance work will take me to the US.

Holy cow! I doubt that Canadians visiting the US this year will encounter any increased animosity from Americans because of the political shenanigans going on. Annie & I plan on making a long planned ride up into the Yukon, and will be accompanied by a Canadian friend. I hope all my Canadian friends will maintain their friendships with Americans and continue to visit as they did in the past. We have two friends from Alberta that we anticipate will visit in the next month and I would be deeply disappointed should they feel unwanted or uneasy while down here.

Unless I have committed to being a Committee Chair, I have learned to not make a early payment for the Rally fee as in the past, life sometimes has gotten in the way, preventing me from attending.

I may or not attend the Lebanon Rally this year, depending on the value of our dollar. Currently we lose 31 cents on the dollar, actually a bit more as the our banks seem to always take a bit more when they convert from Cdn to USD. Losing that much on the dollar is difficult to ignore.

On another note, I still have a MOA voucher left over from COVID that cancelled the Montana Rally, which should pay most of my Rally fee; time will tell if I will attend.

If I do not attend, I know that I will deeply regret not meeting up with many of my American friends.
