Dutch does not seem amenable to translation by Google. The result is as confusing as the bike pictured. Board Track Racer inspired bikes have been the rage of the chopper world. Oliepeil.nl has a Formula 1 inspired show bike which takes its styling queues from Lewis HamiltonÔÇÖs 2008 Formula 1 World Championship McLaren car.

A combination of amusement, a modicum of shock and the pictures emphasis of the non-street-legal nose held my attention for a long time. Getting over them I began to pick up other parts of the bike beyond the nose and paint scheme which continue the theme. The rear view mirrors could be right off the car. F1 car side pods are incorporated in the treatment that is given to the V-TwinÔÇÖs oil tank. The aero package is standard drag bike fair up front but as you move to the rear includes hints of a diffuser package and a rear wing design that appears better proportioned to the bike than many others I have seen. The solo saddle and pillion cowl do a nice job of giving the illusion of a driverÔÇÖs cockpit with the towering engine air intake that loomed over and behind HamiltonÔÇÖs head.

While I wouldnÔÇÖt build or own a show bike, I always like to look at them to see the styling and design ideas incorporated in them. The craftsmanship in the execution of those ideas is often impressive. F1 is a feet forward sport and as F1 inspired bikes go this one does capture well many of the McLaren F1 it is styled after.

Board Track Racers have had an impact on the chopper world. Will F1 inspired bikes start a new trend? I have to believe, if put to the test, F1 race stewards, the FIA court of appeals and the World Motor Sports Council would ban the bike.

MotoGP race at Qatar is postponed
Today, April 13, 2009, 4 hours ago
Due to adverse weather conditions, the MotoGP race at the Commercial bank Grand Prix of Qatar has been postponed. Following discussions between FIM, IRTA, Dorna and the QMMF, a proposal was put to the MotoGP teams to run the race tomorrow evening. Thanks to a huge effort from all parties concerned, and out of respect to fans of motorsport around the world, it has been decided that the race will take place on Monday 13th April, 2009.

The warm-up will run at 6.30pm local time (GMT+3), with the race scheduled to start at 9pm.

FIM Road-racing Commission President, Mr. Claude Danis stated, "For safety reasons it was not possible to race in the night due to the reflection of the lights on the track. This decision had already been taken a few years ago when we first decided to run a night race in Qatar. On behalf of the FIM I am very happy that we could postpone the race until tomorrow. It is important for the championship, especially at the first race, and I would like to thank Dorna, QMMF, IRTA and the MotoGP teams for helping reach this decision together."

Dorna Sports CEO, Mr. Carmelo Ezpeleta added, "After the arrival of a large storm we had to cancel the race as it was unsafe. The QMMF offered us the choice to run the race tomorrow, and as it was a very important decision we wanted to consult with all the team managers. The postponement was accepted by a large majority. This has been an extraordinary decision in extraordinary circumstances

In a search for two wheeled German confections to share I found myself at the Japanese site ritm-sereno.com. Like any good candy they should be both enjoyed and rationed. Enjoy and look for others in future Monday Motorreads.
