I'm coming up on a 72,000 mile service on my 04 R1150RS and while I'm changing the fuel filter, I intend to replace my internal and external fuel lines, and the stock plastic QDs with the following, or similar (if someone has a better suggestion, do share!):

I have replaced the external lines before, and replaced those one-time use Oetikcer clamps with the fuel injector hose clamps on both the internal and external fuel lines. I saw a cool tool (ya gotta get one once in awhile ) for installing these clamps on the back of the March 2010 issue of MCN. I decided to go back to these clamps because the screw-type replacement clamps are tricky to use in closed quaters within the tank and near the frame where the outside lines run. The website wasn't as friendly as the author claimed, but that's OK:

Anyway, I ordered the tool from a place called Chad's Tool Box:

I had some of the 5/16 fuel injection line left over from the previous job. Since it has a date stamped on it, and it's from 2007, I'll definitely be getting newer hose. While I was looking at the other markings on it, I noted an SAE number. Googling the SAE J30R9 number brought up this site (out of many):

Scrolling down, you can see the warning in red that states not to submerse this line in fuel. I then did a search of "submersible fuel injection hose", and came across this:

I'm just putting all this out here because I remembered seeing some postings in the past talking about the pitfalls of putting just any ol' fuel line in your tank, and I believe these articles support that. I found that some of the BMW dealer sites (Max, for instance) appears to sell pre-cut lenghts of hose to connect between the various components in the fuel system. Can anyone recommend a place to buy this stuff by the foot? (I'm thinking this would be a cheaper option.) Also, is there any reason that I can't just use the submersible fuel hose on the outside of the tank? Sorry for all this rambling, but it's raining outside and I can't bear to go out in the garage and look at my poor parked bike.
