Most BMW people know that 2016 is the 100th anniversary of the company and one of the larger celebration events will be held at Laguna Seca near Monterey CA this coming August.
Because of the numerous events happening in that area at that time, there are actually activities over 10 day split into 2 distinct price points.
The first weekend starting Aug 18-21 includes the Pebble Beach Concourse, the Historic Races at Laguna Seca, and the special BMW concourse at the adjoining Jack Nicholas Golf course featuring 3 fairways of classic and modern BMW cars and motorcycles, including BMW cars from the Dixie on, the unique R7 and a number of bikes from the Peter Nettersheim Collection.
The second weekend is the BMW CCA Octoberfest and the BMW RA National held on the Laguna Seca grounds. The Car club will be holding classes on the track while the Motorcycle events are being held on the infield around the island. It’s the National so attend the seminars, visit vendors, GS Giants riding classes, Beer Garden, learn at Airhead Central, participate in the field events, etc.
Because of the timing and location around the Pebble Beach and Nicholas Concourse events, the first weekend prices for everything within 30 miles goes way up…a local Motel 6 is $300/night vs the normal $80 for the second weekend.
We have managed so secure a number of level camping spots between the major events venues all within walking distance. Since the camp sites are within Laguna Seca, the price of the full weekend Historic Races had to be included in the camping pricing…but we managed to negotiate a discount so half price.
So for everyone with a passion for 2 and 4 wheel history, especially BMW, this is one event to experience..and if you like to camp, you get a pretty good deal. One night in a hotel vs. 4 days camping within walking distance of everything except Pebble Beach and downtown Monterrey, race tickets for all 3 days, food trucks onsite, showers, and restrooms.
If you have an interest, can you please pass this link to your friends so they can have a once every 100 year opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds…not to mention some of the best riding in the world within hours of the campground.
