reducing picture size

irfan doesn't work on my Mac: They haven't gotten that set up yet. Any other ways to shrink a picture? (I'm not a Mac whiz so I've not found their way to shrink pics yet; if there is one).

Welcome to the forum...a Photoshop kinda deal will work or you can e-mail the picture to someone who can shrink it and send it back to you. Good luck. Gary

Try Photobucket! It is a free hosting website... you can upload your pictures and it will provide you the links to be able to post pictures to the forums. It is easy to use. It will also resize the pictures.

Irfanview is for Windows, what does a Mac user do to minimize photo capacity?

Copied from the FAQs on the IrfanView website:

-------------------

Q: Can I use IrfanView on Mac?

A: Yes, probably. There is no native-Mac version of IrfanView. However, you can use IrfanView in conjunction with Mac program like WineBottler/DARWINE. Take the ZIP version of IrfanView and unzip it or copy your existing Windows IrfanView folder to Mac. This is easier because the installer may need additional Windows DLLs to run.

the attachment manager will only allow one pic to be loaded per post...I actually wanted to load a series of how to photos. any idea why it only allows one?

The only way to load more than one picture per post is to use one of the on-line photo hosting sites, like smugmug, flickr, snapfish, etc. Those sites have tools that allow you to build the URL to paste into your post here.

Generally 800x600 will fill most monitors pretty well. Any bigger and you get to a situation where you might have to scroll left/right to see the whole thing.
