P/As 2007 Year in Review

SNC1923

Guest
In September of this year, I was honored to have one of my photos chosen as a picture of the week on the BMW MOA website.

The picture, above, merited a number of comments from the membership in a love-it-or-hate-it thread that emerged. In that thread, Kbasa commented that he thought it might be a good idea if we had a weekly photo assignment thread for members to post and discuss their photographs. He went further in suggesting the first theme, "A Long Way to Go," and even nominated Knary and I to be commentators.

We could only have guessed at what this would have become. Each weekly thread averages nearly 3,000 views with nearly 100 submissions and comments.

As we say farewell to 2007, let's take a look back at some of the standout photography that members have shared with us for our education and entertainment. This is a completely subjective collection, chosen with no single criteria in mind--just photos that moved, entertained, or amazed me. If I have overlooked a favorite of yours, please feel free to include it in a reply. And if I have overlooked on of your photos, no slight intended. I'm just overwhelmed by the sheer volume and quality of our work.

Happy New Year to one and all.

First, Congratulations and then, Thanks

Congratulations on your impending fatherhood. The worst part is they don't come with a Clymers or a factory manual! But they do need the fluids changed more than every 6000 miles and I don't know one that hasn't had a final drive failure.
Thanks for putting your time and energy in on this thread. This is worth the BMWMOA memberhsip by itself. I check it on work more than I should at work and can't wait to see what is new.
Congrats. and Thanks.

Wow! When you pull them all together like this it is a remarkable body of work!

Thanks for helping us develop our best pictures.

Wow, all three of these, the first especially, are difficult exposures. Because I'm from the old school (read: film and center-weighted metering), I never cease to be amazed at how these cameras handle difficult metering situations.

You must be very pleased. I'll assume one of the lenses is an 18-55. The other a telephoto zoom, perhaps? You must be very pleased. We'll expect to see a lot more of your photos in the assignment threads. . . .

Thanks. I also found that a little color correction in Lightroom helps a lot, but that first one of Chloe I got right the first time in the camera. White Balance is tough on snow, but a lot easier to correct for once shooting RAW. The one lenses is 18-55 the other is 75-300.

Wow! Just reviewing the fun we had with SNC1923! I learned so much from his gentle and knowledgeable guidance!

Wish we could start something similar again Pick a theme. Shoot for a couple of weeks. Post your best. Choose a winner.

Where should we start? I'd sure like to see this come back here.
