I may just continue to ride my GTL and shift my deposit to a 2015 San Marino blue with keyless ride. I just hope there's a plan B if the keyless system goes belly up on me. OTOH, the G16GTLE folks have been beta testing that system for us. Decisions, decisions...
In production doesn't mean the line is moving...
What would it mean? Why would BMW move status forward if they didn't have parts for assembly (153) status?
111 Order Accepted at AG
112 Order scheduled for Production
150 Production Started
151 Body Shop Started
152 Paint Shop Started
153 Assembly Started
155 Production Completed
160 Released to Distribution
168 AG Stock
I was told there were 2014s in that status. They were in that status when the decision was made to stop everything due to the suspension. They had been pulled to the side waiting for resolution. If they had made it to that status 150 they were going to stay in production and be completed. Any bikes that were in one of the earlier status codes were cancelled. There are several people including myself who had orders canceled that had not made it to Status 150.
Do you know if production had resumed on the 2014s in Status 150? That would be an interesting development. I would think BMW would be very sensitive to what order the new suspensions get handed out to current owners, bikes that have been traded in/sold back or in production.
The mystery continues.
As dealer stated, all his 2014 RT's (his remaining allotment) went from status 112 to 150 this past week. He has no definite idea, but surmises BMW has shocks for assembly...otherwise why would the status change? He had four units go to status 150.
Here, add this to the mix...yesterday dealer goes to modify a pending production RT from his factory allotment. However, all his pending-production RT's are now showing a 150 status. Code 150 status indicates "in production". So, does this mean BMW's assembly line now has the "new" shock? That's the only thing dealer can surmise. Could it be all have manual suspensions? NO! They're showing ESA option code. Check with your dealer to see if he's witnessed the same.
I was told that the factory shuts down July and will likely retool for 2015 RT models when production on the RT restarts. Mostly with the same 2014 RT parts, just new paint and the keyless options.
I've had BMW bike's that were manufactured in July. My understanding August is typical down time. Maybe it changes.
My '06 RT: Production date 15.08.2005
(This date I remember. Cannot reliably remember wedding date.)

Mike,
No one really can say for sure but I have found for me personally, the CS have been very pleasant and a complete waste of time. I never received the promised call back and never received a return call after leaving a message. My dealer is on top of the situation and really is all the contact and assistance I need. Your dealer sounds similar. Contacting CS, IMO, won't likely be of any help but also cannot hurt other than being some wasted time.
