A better BED,camping?

Randy-

Not to rain on your parade, but I'd check out that REI mattress by sleeping on it at home a couple of nights before you take it on the road.

I had two of them that I bought on clearance from REI a couple of years ago. One leaked right away, the other lasted several minutes before leaking.:doh

I went back to my old Therm-a-Rest, which has several years under its belt- with no leaks!:usa

I sincerely wish you well with the REI mattress, and I hope it holds up for you for years to come. I liked everything about the two I bought, except their inability to hold air!:p

Therm-A-Rest makes the REI-brand self-inflating mattresses.

REI mattresses made by Therm-a-Rest?

Therm-A-Rest makes the REI-brand self-inflating mattresses.

Perhaps only some of them are, or are they perhaps made in a different facility?

The REI-branded mattresses I bought were made in China, according to their packaging.

The Therm-a-Rest mattresses I've looked at, including the four at my house, are all made in USA. I figured the REI-branded mattresses would have been made by someone else, as they were from China.

The REI-branded mattresses I'm looking at on the REI site all say they're "Imported."

The Therm-a-Rest mattresses I glanced at on the REI site all appeared to be made in USA.

If Therm-a-Rest is making the current REI-branded mattresses, and they're being made in USA (which you didn't allege), I might have to take another look at them!:thumb

I compared the Thermarest 3/4 1.75" pad next to the REI when I was first shopping to replace my old Thermarest, the only difference I could tell was a little different kind of anti-slide covering and an added pair of cinch straps with the REI. Also, the REI brand is a half the price and comes with a lifetime satisfaction guarantee :).

That said, the BA Air Core/Pumphouse mattress combo has both beat by a mile in terms of comfort and packability. Rolls up easier too.
