Trip advice....

Maintenance is absolutely critical when riding in Detroit;

MAKE SURE ALL YOUR FIREARMS ARE CLEANED, OILED AND LOADED AT ALL TIMES-FURTHERMORE USE ONLY HIGH QUALITY AMMUNITION AND BE SURE TO HAVE A NUMBER OF BACK-UP FIREARMS AVAILABLE. you will find that motorcycle jackets are very handy for concealing extra guns due to their many pockets. Be sure to shoot first and ask questions later.
There is a reason that Detroit has an inordinately high number of neighborhoods which fall into the category of "America's most dangerous neighborhoods".

A BETTER IDEA................................

AVOID DETROIT!!!

Regards,

Will

Detroit is just misunderstood. :blush:nra
The calgary roads after the flood are probably still better than Detroits.

Well, I'm back and Detroit is bust !
But I had a fantastic trip.
After 9 states and two countries, I only had one day of rain. Otherwise the weather was sunny (except for the mist on the left coast).
1150RT ran flawlessy (except for the really annoying surging....it was minimized when I had full load of two extra dry bags and my wife on the back). Inertia really helps.
It was a really great experience, both in terms of memories and American geography and people.
I did modify my route by avoiding Banff. The roads were still showing possible closures from Banff to Castlegar BC, So I went through Idaho and the Glacial Forest up into Canada to Castlegar, then back down into Washington.
One section I can recommend is the Leggett Leg. 22 miles of switchback twisties through a forest. It Runs from Leggett CA on the 101, west on Hwy 1.
4200 miles in 14 days. No record, but my longest trip so far.
