Hastings Rail Bridge

is a vertical-lift bridge
that spans the Mississippi River in Hastings, Minnesota.
It is one of only three lift spans on the Mississippi River.
It was built in 1981 by Milwaukee Road

It crosses the Mississippi river in a north south orientation
from Hastings just upstream of Point Douglas,
where the Saint Croix River empties into the Mississippi river.

In addition to CP Rail traffic,
the bridge also carries Amtrak's Empire Builder across the river.

looking for a route

Beer Team

A group of us are riding the dual sport ride from Mack Bridge. The track brings us across Wisconsin well south of St. Croix meeting spot. Any suggestions from St. Croix Falls area.

Great county maps for finding gravel roads.

LINKY: find gravel roads

St. Croix Adventure Trail
great alternative to the TMAT East (0r to do a loop ride)
it crosses the St. Croix River at Osceola, WI.,
then rejoins the TMAT just south of St. Croix State Forest.
twisty gravel roads, some sugar sand.

Another Wisconsin option - Summit Trail, just East of the Gandy Dancer Trail.
Extended track to include Skyline Drive in Duluth

If you do the St. Croix Adventure Trail
it would be easy to get you 10 Wisconsin Road Rustic Road Patch

The Trans Minnesota Adventure Trail runs along the Mississippi River for a short time.
If you look at a map, you may think the route goes along the great river,
but north of Hastings you are along the St. Croix River and not the the Mississippi river
