Castrol oil from Amazon

Because Mobil "owns" the trademark "1" in the USA, the oil Castrol calls Power 1 in the rest of the world is labeled Power RS in the USA. Comes in quarts rather than liters, too.

I have been using this Castrol in my 2013 GS...
Does anyone know if it's a suitable replacement?
tks,
jason

Hi Jason. I think it may be the same stuff. The important thing is the spec and the new product has the right spec for wetheads: "Exceeds API SL and JASO MA-2".

I was researching this awhile back and on one forum I found where someone posted a email from Castrol stating it was the same oil. They just changed the container.

been using this stuff from Amazon for 60K miles on my '14GSA
https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-06113-Power1-Synthetic-Motorcycle/dp/B008MISDII

I get two cases at a time and get 15K miles out of the case.

I get three of these as well Oil Filters
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068NR1SW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also get the 2 of these every 12K miles spark plugs
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DZQ69BA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and these as well airfilters
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NHAQ6BW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope this helps

Paul, any comments on how this oil affects shifting quality over Advantec Ultimate? I am imagining it's the same on shifting and clutch behavior but just checking as the price is sure right on it.

Not Paul, but I did not notice any difference in shifting between Advantec and Castrol.

Water cooled bikes normally take 10-40 and air/oil cooled bikes take 20-50. That is pretty much an industry standard, with the odd exception. What matters is that the high number is correct for the specs of your bike. The lower, low number, just aids cold weather starting and lets the oil get to where it has to go quicker, less wear etc. For example I use Castrol RS 10-50 in my oilhead, engine is quieter at startup.
