On my return trip from the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia(3840 km). Bike is equiped with a few upgrades like Talon Eagle brackets and pegs, Sargent seat and Cee Baileys +4.5" windshield. What a wonderful bike.

My first RT and first BMW ever :
2004 -- bought it new, had it for almost 4 months, put 5k on it and it was totalled in an accident.

My second RT - just picked up 2 weeks ago, its a 2002, 18k on it, basically stock.

2002

Good looking BMW!:type

I have a 2002 with 39,000 on it. No problems after break in miles were behind me. Had the dealer replace windsheild motor at around 200 miles and the factory authorized replacing the "entire brake system" at about 2000 miles. The brakes had had a defect from the beginning that became worse one day when riding home from work. Maintenance only after that.

Enjoy your ride.

Can you say Pea Soup?

Just bought this 2002 GSA off of EBay, rode it home to New Orleans from New York, rode the whole Virginia Skyline and Blue Ridge Parkway.

I've never seen such bad fog in my life!!!

Cloud 9

I was caught in the midst of a few clouds on the BR
Parkway once myself. This is not really "fog" but more like the inside of a raincloud. My radio would not turn off or change channels until it had a chance to dry!

I still enjoyed the ride. I am guessing that you enjoyed your ride as well.

;););)

My first BMW - diggin' it most exponentially.

Welcome and congrats!!!
You are now in the clutches of the BMW world and are here forever!!
I wish I had had one about 40 years ago and I would most likely not have had 28 years of no 2 wheeling.
My RT has made me glad to be back!

Mike

TandemGeek , Now you need a GS and you'll be all set !!!! :bolt

You would also have to change the name to TripleGeek and then some would think you have reverted to older Kawasaki's and then ---- Oh well you get my drift !!! :stick

Not a long trip but an awesome one none the less.

Hey all,

Just took a nice little ride on my new (used) R1100RT from Alpena, Michigan to New Castle, Pennsylvania. Had a wonderful time out there visiting family. Got to enjoy taking my niece for a nice ride and hit Starbucks for some casual conversation.

Just a note, found a great little place for inexpensive, yet really nice riding gear, called Cycle Leather Outlet in Streetsboro, OH, 330-626-9600. Great product and even greater prices. (and no, I do not work for them... lol!!!). Stop in and tell Alison that Rodney sent ya. Alison works on commission and is really knowledgeable.

Have a great one!
