Bigbird, welcome to the BMW S clan...lots of fine folks on this website.

Beautiful machine you've acquired, bet you're gonna love it!

FYI, there is an S specific page on the Pelican Parts website. A lot of valuable info about the 1100S/1200S bikes, and some amusing "debates" at times. Check it out if you have time....

Cheers! BIll J

Somewhere in Southern Ohio near the Ohio River with my friend and his 650. It's me in the picture with the 2000 R1100R in the foreground. BMW dealer still wants to know what color Pacific Blue is.

Hey, Steve, I've always loved Chicago, but after my quick blast to your neck o' the woods I'm really jealous. Around Chicago, the best riding is entrance and exit ramps. the rest of the turns are 90 degrees, and except for the end of my driveway, the grade is always 0%:violin

Hey, Steve, I've always loved Chicago, but after my quick blast to your neck o' the woods I'm really jealous. ....

Truth be told - I sometimes pose as a Southern Boy but I grew up in the South Bend, Indiana area. Came to North Carolina in the mid '80s to go to school and wound up staying. You are right, this area is a motorcyclist's paradise - not just the mountains but the whole region.

You need to plan a longer trip down here and take it all in. Asheville makes a great base camp, even for a jaded Chi-towner!

First real road trip

This was on my first road trip to Maine on my 04 R1150RT. 650 miles in 3 days. I am hooked.

Last weekend I ran across California and Nevada chasing some family history. The RT sure does those roads well.

My babies

Started with the '02 Dakar in Oct. 09. Got SWMBO interested in riding so bought the '04 R1150RT in Sept. '10. First ride on RT was from Boise to Spokane ~400 miles. Love both bikes for what they can do.
