Vehicle theft

Is that the same as what we used to call the garbage man?

The Solid Waste Authority employs the Sanitation Engineers which manage the refuse collection for transport to the Dump in the neighboring, low-income county.

Update April 1

Well not exactly an April Fools story...but close.

H has been waiting on the settlement check which was verbally agreed back on the 19th March.
She called Monday morning ...once again she has had to make all contacts...The claims fellow she has been dealing with said..."Oh, your vehicle was recovered". She inquired when, the answer, five days ago. She said So what? we had a verbal agreement with an email confirmation weeks ago.

She told him the verbal agreement/email was taken for that and she moved on with another purchase. He said they were sending someone in San Antonio to look at it. We also made the drive to see if anything personal was left in it, knowing it was a leap. It was at the police controlled/ private owned facility on the far southwest side of SA. Basically took the whole day to work thru the process. A very busy location.

Upon arrival, she was escorted by an officer in a Club Car and I got to wait ( what a bad assignment with all the crazed towed vehicle folks) to her former pristine Liberty...it was far from that. It had been found abandoned with a major v-notch in the front end, the interior ripped up and the OEM so-so radio ripped from the dash and wires everywhere. There was a basket with laundry and a family photo album in the back seat:scratch The items they could have sold, they destroyed instead...geniuses. The key to the roof rack and the receiver hitch were in the glovebox so they used a screwdriver and chisel instead, the grille guard was bent in a nice V and the driving lights maybe came off in the crash...they were where the V was now.

She took some photos and snagged the only salvageable item to give her some closure :thumb Best find of the day.

When we got home, there was a Fed-Ex envelope at the gate...the notice from the impound yard:banghead
Also the paperwork from the dealers insurance with the release papers to sign the title to them...but no check. She got back on the phone with a new vigor knowing we were NOT getting the Jeep back as it was obviously a total...the claims fella said , yes, they now were considering it a total as well but the check would still be a few days.
I walked to the other side of the property as she stood her ground and seems the check will be here shortly. She had played nice long enough.
Now her focus is to yank the dealers chain for the items the insurance still denied...what small claims court will not find in her favor? An attorney friend feels she has no problem with her claim as well.

I got an email from the dealer yesterday...remember I was clear the Jeep was in her name and they would deal with Helen only. It was a thank you for visiting and a discount offer on a new Jeep...seriously? I never put my name on ANYTHING:scratch

It's the "new and improved" customer service model. Do something to really piss you off, give it lip-service instead of taking care of it, forget it ever happened and then......when they start to realize that your not going to give up- start the up-hill run to just barely helpful.
I'd buy Helen a scotch :thumb

Service Manager definitely needs some Sales training to include, "How to make and keep friends...and customers". Imagine he's one of those, "Get it in and get it out" types. Hope all goes better as it moves forward. Use to keep our keys in the vehicles when in our locked garage (can't imagine a dealership doing that)....until someone broke in garage service door and stole the NEW truck 15 years ago. Took it for a joy ride, over small trees, curbs and through yards at high speeds, finally wrecked into an apartment complex during police pursuit. I would have preferred they never found it, but that wasn't our luck. $12,000 of damage and was never the same - traded within a month of being fixed.
