I just took a class from Coach Stroud at his beautiful facility in Lyons, OR. I'm cutting and pasting a post I created for the Women's BMW Facebook group page here:

"I just finished spending the weekend at Coach Ramey Stroud's training facility in Lyons, OR, for a voluntary spring cleanup and some off-road training. He is truly one interestingly amazing human being. For those of you that don't know him, he's a former pro MC racer (on and off road) as well as a professional endurance horse rider/trainer. He was involved in a serious racing accident in 2003 and ended up with a traumatic brain injury and put him in a wheelchair as a paraplegic. He was told he would never walk again. WRONG. Not only can he walk, but he is back to riding his F650 GS (off road) with a special modified side car.

The training I received in one day changed and improved my riding skills. In. One. Short. Day...seriously. There were 7 of us that volunteered for this unique experience, myself and 6 men. None of the training was intimidating and the other men were no different in their abilities or needs than I was. By the end of the day, we were all riding on variable surface trails and doing things that most of us have never done before on our bikes.

Stroud really knows body anatomy and physiology and one of his specialties is the ability to teach the importance of body awareness and positioning as it relates to motorcycle riding. Knowing some basic body positioning and how it effects our bikes in turns, both high/slow speed and on-road/off-road turns was eye opening. He's calm, steady and informative, all without sounding like a pompous jerk.

Why am I posting this? Because Coach Stroud is the one who is offering the off-road women's training at our Oregon BMW club rally event at John Day, OR. I found out there are only three of us that signed up for this opportunity. I am simply posting this as an honest and heart felt plea to try and get some other riders to consider signing up for the training.

1. This training is NOT scary.
2. Don't ride off-road? Cool beans. This training will improve your riding skills for your R1200R.
3. Other riders don't have the opportunity to have a guy with this kind of credentials geographically close enough to be able to sign up for a class. And we are so fortunate to have him. Please consider signing up. You'll have to take my word for it that it won't be something you'll regret."
