Phoenix day road rides in middle of Oct - any suggestions???????

Hello there,
I've been a moa member for the last year and really enjoy it. I've traveled out to Salem for the rally and really enjoyed meeting and talking to fellow BMW riders.

In the middle of Oct I'm going to get married in Vegas and thought it would be cool to drive to and base out of Phoenix before I make the long ride back up to Calgary
I'm looking for 3 or 4 days of great day rides with my new bride to be

I've never been to AZ before so I'm hoping someone around Phoenix can point me in the right direction!

North: Prescott; Jerome; Sedona; Flaggstaff; Grand Canyon; Monument Valley; Canyon de Chelly; White Mountain Area - Springerville, (South on Highway 180 to Clifton, then north on highway 191 back to Springerville - Devils highway!! A must do as its over 100 miles of twisty mountain road. Go north as its up hill into the White Mountains!); Back to Phoenix via the Salt River Canyon. We did this trip through AZRide ( http://www.azride.com/ ).

Short rides from Phoenix: Tortilla Flat; Salt River Canyon; Usary mountain area.

Here right now, but no motor bike-:(

Hope this helps, get a AZ map and us above to plan.

If you need more please private message me and I'll send some GPS routes when I get home to Canada, (GTA area).

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/711/Arizona/Mesa-Globe-Punkin-Center-and-back-to-Mesa.html don_ski has given you some great rides, here is another nice 200 mile loop day ride.

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/1002/Arizona/Tortilla-Flat.html The Tortilla Flat Road.

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/10/Arizona/Superior-Winkleman-Globe-triangle.html This triangle route is the absolute local favorite of AZ Beemers MOA Club #89!

We AZ Beemers believe in "Ride to Eat - Eat to Ride"! If you want the best Mexican food North of the Border, here is AZBs' favorite restaurant in Globe:

La Comida Excelente - La Casita Cafe in Globe - Gracias La Familia Villalobos - Menudo Fantastico, Henry! 470 N. Broad, 928-425-8462; opened up in 1947!

I moved here in 1990 and have ridden to Globe for lunch hundreds of time, but until yesterday when Uri Schumm and Dr. Bob Flanders took me there I had never eaten at La Casita Cafe. Mi Sobrino (my Nephew) Enrique Garza: The Menudo Roja Rico is every bit as good or better than Los Hermanos in Superior!

Mudslide's Chimichanga:

Uri's Chile Verde with fresh homemade flour tortillas:

Dr. Bob's Enchiladas Plate:

Papa Chuy Viejo's bowl of Menudo Roja Rico was Fantastico:

Hey fellas,
What's my chances of running into snow in the mountains around Oct?

You can call 511 while in Arizona to get an up to date statewide AZ road conditions report. Yo Tom, I was just asked that question over at the K1600 Forum and here was my response:

Love that route. Stop at Heber for a Red Onion burger.

+1, Gunny; good call MWNahas, we AZ Beemers will ride up to Heber from Phoenix just for a burger at the Red Onion!

az511.gov AZ511.gov is Arizona's portion of the national 5-1-1 travel information alerting system. Traffic updates are available here at AZ511.gov, and also by dialing 5-1-1 from any landline or mobile phone from anywhere in Arizona. (Outside Arizona, dial 1-888-411-ROAD (7623).

dmftoy1, as of now the Phoenix to Holbrook routing is free and clear! Have Fun, watch out for our Arizona elk!
