Light rail

How close is the light rail station to the rally site? That would make some travel in the cities much easier.

The light rail system runs along University Ave...there would be a stop somewhere near Snelling Ave. The fairgrounds is about a mile north on Snelling, up to Como Ave.

The light rail that Kurt is referring to that runs along University Avenue is brand new to the Twin Cities. In fact, it hasn't gone live yet, but will be in operation by the time of the rally.

Frankly, if you do decide to use light rail as a means of transportation within the Twin Cities, I would suggest that you will likely be riding your 'cycle to a station and riding to and from on the rail. I would heartily recommend planning out where you want to go and what you'd like to do THEN decide how to get there. That would also allow us Twin Cities residents to be more helpful in suggestions.

It would make travel within the cities easier, especially if you plan to visit the downtown areas.

The buses stop in front of the fairgrounds and should bring you to the nearest LR station. Usually, you can buy a day pass, which covers buses and LR.

There are two options to ride buses to the light rail systems. Buses go south on Snelling Ave to University Ave where there is a light rail stop. Buses also run west on Como Ave to the light rail station at the former site of the metro dome. We will have more information at the Hospitality Table.

Getting to the Mall of America or the Airport.

Catch an 84F bus on Snelling Ave heading south and get off at the 46th Street Station. There, using the transfer pass you asked for when you boarded the bus, get on the blue line light rail still heading south. It will go the airport and then the MOA which is the last stop. Going back to the rally grounds it the same in reverse.
Bus and Light Rail schedules will available at the Hospitality Table.
