Just saw a media comment on that. They said her roles started drying up when she turned 17...that she was a "good" looking actress then, but not the cutey she was when a child. She did The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer around age 17. Here she is at 16...
She lived a long, interesting, and productive life, RIP Shirley...
As a kid in the fifties/sixties, probably saw most of her movies on the tube. My mother was quite a fan, possibly because she and Shirley both benefitted from some tap dance instruction from some guy called Mr. Bojangles....
Classy lady. She actually lived the life that she portrayed in her movies. Unlike today's actors.
