2011 R1200RT Final Drive Leak

Upon inspection of my 2011 R1200RT with 21,000 miles I found a stain on the tire and rim and oily residue at the rear of the final drive and next to the drain plug. Could this be leaking seal or am I looking at major problem? I don't see any play on rear rim. Bike still under warranty. Note that the dependent part in picture is on right (couldn't rotate picture)

Looks like an external seal. Easy 15 min job taking less than $40 in parts. Should be no residual damage to the FD. If under warranty, then no sweat. If you want to do it yourself, then Jim Von Baden has a DIY thead on ADV Rider.

Still under warranty. Having it fixed this week along with an erratic fuel gauge (has float not fuel strip)

Mine too;

My GSA had same leak, outer seal and a few months later, the FD Bearing was with to much play and got replaced. Just a note, the seals leaks CAN be a forewarning of a bearing vibration and failing! Keep close watch for rear wheel play. The outer seal is a very quick in/out job for any dealer to perform. The bearing too when mine went south, I waited about two hours for that job.
