That is the only downside to running Metzler Marathon tires. One minute they look great and the next

I looked at them two days ago and could see no cord. Rode 150 miles today and look at them now.

Lucky for me I have a new pair of Pilot Road 3 in the garage.
 
Yes, they do go away quick don't they? lol

Looked like my rear tire at Louisburg while touring on the Salty Fog in 2011. Luckily for me, a nearby Harley shop had a replacement Metzler Marathon in stock. :laugh
 
I've never run a tire to a cord. As soon as the tread & wear bars are even I replace them. I ride in way too much rain to take a chance on a bald tire in the center.
 
The problem I have with running a tire, even to the wear bars, is that the ride deteriorates long before that. Once my radius profile becomes triangular, the tire won't turn in nicely anymore.
