87 K75S headlight bulb retainer

The retaining clip for the headlight bulb broke off while I was replacing the bulb.
On my 87 K75S this retainer is a wire shaped like an elongated C, the ends get pinched together and put into slots. The closed end is anchored by a plastic tab on the reflector shell, this plastic tab is what broke. Without the retainer the bulb is knocked out of place with every bump in the road.

The parts fisch shows a circular retainer, p/n 6312 1459 470, is this a replacement for the C spring clip?
Can the circular one be used with older reflectors?
Has anyone had a similar problem? How can I hold the lamp in place? Silicon seal?
