This came with a set of bags I bought on ebay. No clue which bike it's meant for, but it certainly isn't for a K1100....

Any help would be appreciated and if you're in the market for one it is available.

Thanks,

Rod

Remember guys, commerce really not allowed in the main forum area. If you can get an ID on the bag- great.

Looks like the tank bag I had for my K75C.

Yep, looks like the tank bags we used on the K75T and K75S.
I can't remember if the K75 base fits a K100 tank.

Looking back at our old pictures, I see the bag on the 1987 K75Ts were blue like the OP's bag.
The 91 K75Ss had bags that were more of a silver color.
The 84 R100RT bag was blue like the K75T bag.

Agreed. I've searched the internet for about a week now and cant determine which it is. There's a fellow on ebay that has the same bag and he claims it's for the R100 but the base on his seems different.

Love the pictures!! Very nice.

You notice how the K bikes base plate seems to be in the middle of the bag? This one seems to be more toward the rear. Maybe it is the R100???

You're right. I found another picture of my R100RT with the BMW bag and the straps are different compared to the K bike bags.

seems like the straps come out toward the rear of the bag more than the K75.

I can't help with the tankbag ID but wanted to say thanks for the "vintage" pics. It's fun to look back 20 or so years and realize how much things have changed. Not just the bikes, the helmets and riding gear but also the look of photos made from film. Looks like I cracked open some old photo album of a long ago vacation when the Mrs and I were on airheads. LOL!!

That is definitely an earlier generation tankbag. Based on the position of the hole for the filler and the short zippers I'd say it's a early K-bike base.
It won't work on your K1100 as the hooks on the straps are different, the K1100 hooks require a matching catch that mounts where the side panels snap into the tank.
