Here are some highlights:
- Mt Rainier National Park. Paradise road from Longmire to US 12. Lots of twisties. Good road. Lots of traffic.
- WA 272 Colfax, Wa to US 395. Scenic ride tthrough wheat fields, rolling hills, and forests. Good road. Some curves. No traffic.
- ID 6 "White Pine Drive." Starts in Potlatch, ID then winds through fields, farms, and forests. Once you get to White Pine Drive the twisties start and go through and over the Palouse Divide. Once down off the ridge back to cruising through fields and forests. Very good road. Low traffic.
- St Joe River Road. St Maries, Id to St Regis, Mt. Starts just out of St Maries, Id and follows St Joe River. More curves than Lolo and better scenery. Several good camping spots along river. Good road, low traffic. This is a great ride. At Idaho-Montana border road changes from paved to gravel. Very good gravel road with lots of curves but more straights. Only about 10 miles of gravel until you make it to St Regis, Mt.
- McKillop Creek Rd. Connects US 2 to MT 37 using paved USFS roads. McKillop Creek Rd is brand new blacktop - excellent road. Narrow though, but lots of pull-outs. Good curves and lots of scenery as you travel down Fisher River. Takes you to FS 273 which is wider and good road too. Ends at MT 37. Low traffic.
- FS 228 along western shore of Lake Koocanusa. Wow! Good road, lots of corners, no traffic, and great scenery. Speed limit 44 mph.
- FS 92 from Rexford to Yaak, Mt. Great road lots of twisties, beautiful scenery, and no traffic. Beware of deer. Very remote road. Road is narrow in places. Great stop in Yaak for food. After Yaak, road is wider and follows Yaak River down to US 2. Plenty of good camping spots. Beware though this is bear country. Lots of off-road/dual sport opportunities. Very limited services. Road is popular with bikers because of curves and scenery.
- Addy-Cedonia Road. Connects US 395 just north of Chewelah, Wa to WA 25 to Davenport, Wa. Very good road, scenic with farms and forests. Good curves and no traffic. Beware of deer.
All told we drove 1, 541 miles - 200-300 on gravel/unpaved roads. Only 90 miles on Interstate highways. Used county and state routes whenever possible.
