How can you tell if the transmission or the final drive seal is the one leaking. My rear boot showed signs of leaking and there is a puddle of fluid inside the swing arm. Do I have to take the swing arm off to tell if the front deal is the culprit?

This is an older thread- may take until this evening for the "regulars" to get back on line to give you an opinion.

Confirmed, transmission seal. Should I replace the old final drive seal since I have it torn apart ? Any suggestions on how to clean up the housing without damaging the bearings? Should I replace the boots while I am at it?

    Thanks

A lint free cloth/available at Walmart/,a cup of gasoline 87 octane is good enough.Submerge the cloth into gasoline, and yust simply whipe it out. Please don't smoke at that time!!
