Routing Question for Rally Travel

Hi all - need some input/advice on some routing options. Spending a night in Port Orford then heading up to the rally site. I plan to hug the coast for awhile, then turn east. There seems to be a couple of interesting roads from 101 to I5, so looking for your opinions.
1) 38 looks interesting but then there is more of 5 to do.
2) 126
3) 34
4) US20

Or maybe I just weave my way across all of them. :thumb
Assuming I can only pick one, which one?
Any advice is appreciated!

US20 is fun from the coast all the way through to Bend; but the coastal area may be congested with traffic. Beware of cops with radar just looking for you... A bit boring between Corvallis and Sweet Home, but the rest more than makes up for it.
Dunno about the others.
Side trip? Check out 138 between Roseburg and Crater Lake, good fun.

Of those options, I would suggest the Alsea Hwy (34) from Waldport to just west of Philomath where you'll turn north (heading west slightly on 20), then through Kings Valley (223) to Dallas, then east (22) to Salem.

If you choose 38, then you can go through Drain to Hwy 99 and connect to Territorial Road north and avoid I-5 altogether.

Generally, the further north that you cross the coast range, you will encounter more traffic. Hwy 126W is boring compared to the other options (unless you take Hwy 36 at Mapleton).

Enjoy the journey.

Cheers!
