2005 R1200ST infomation needed for newbie

Just trying to learn about this bike and notice the Alternator Assembly was replace after only 33000 Kms (as I understand this, the bike is just broken in). The ignition coils also, are the two related?
Perhaps there are particular things I could be watching for in preventative measures.
Don't see posts for this bike so am also wondering which other bike it evolved from to point me in a direction for information!

Look in the hexhead/camheads section, as your bike is the former and pretty much all the same as the other versions
