    R60/5 Transmission Rear Cover

Noticed the rear tranny cover started seaping. I retouqued the bolts but I am still seeing some fluid leaking. Is it possible to replace the gasket without removing the transmission from the bike?

Doubt it. It takes directed heat in order to expand the rear cover so it will tap off. Not to mention that some of the guts will fall out. Then there's the issue or reshimming the gears since you'll have to go back with a new gasket. It might be the same shimming, but it would pay off to recheck it.

There are two links in the Resources and Links thread under the Repair and Rebuild section showing pictures of overhauling the transmission.

Be sure it's definitely leaking at the cover seal. Oil has a funny way of moving around while riding.

I was afraid of that. Time to learn about transmissions!
