I have added a pair of Denali running lights to my GS. I now want to add a controller for a heated jacket liner which contains a 10 amp fuse. Can I simply wire this to the battery, or will I need to install a fuse block for such a set up? Thanks...
I have a 2011 R1200GS. I too added the Denali DX Xtremes. Before I did that I already put in a FZ1 Fuzeblock because I could attach six devices without the ASIC's (ZFE et al) telling me how much juice to use. In this manner you also can protect your devices with the appropriate type of fuse, currrent and type of trigger, fast or slow blow. Wiring directly to the battery works but after a while the top of your battery can look like an explosion in a spaghetti factory. I run my GPS, radar detector, heated clothing plug, usb adapter, horns, and DX's all from FZ1 and choose which I want as switched or unswitched. Additionally, I disconnected the underseat powerplug from being a CanBus device to a straight power plug to the FZ1. I charge the bike through it and don't have to worry about a special CanBus charger. Don't have to worry about a tire compressor shutting things down either.
Let me launch a preemptive strike, NO this does not void your warranty.
