Oil Sight Glass Replacement- K75

From the IBMWR K-Tech pages:
http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech/sight-glass1.shtml
http://www.ibmwr.org/ktech/sight-glass2.shtml

Most folks (Paging Paul Glaves) don't recommend using any sealer as #2 recommends, just clean and degrease the seal area and seat the sight glass firmly with a suitable drift (large socket).

Clean and dry. Do it with the oil drained. Thoroughly clean all traces of oil off the metal recess in the engine case. The elasticity of the ribbed rubber surround is designed to hold it in place until heat cycles harden the rubber at which point it will seep - say 5 years from now.

A lot easier than replacing one on the left side. :brad

LOL Hi Lee,
You know, I am so doggone tired right know it's not even funny. It took me a moment to get your comment.

I have been wanting to get my bike down south so you can look at it for months now and it seems that everything gets in the way. My daughter, wife, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, you know, everybody. I need a vacation from everyone. Hope things are going well.

Oil Sight Glass Replacement

Gotta get it out first, unless it has blown out. K75/100's sight glasses are plastic. Take a piece of tie wire and heat hot enough to melt a hole offcenter (drilling puts plastic thrash in your oil). Screw a pointed screw in and pull with pliers (sheetrock screws are very pointed) . Replacement is one of the easiest things you will ever do on your bike. Thanks to whoever told me how to do it that way.
Charlie
