R1200RT side light issue

The side lights on my 2005 R1200RT are on all the time now, even after shutting it off and removing the key. Last year on a ride around Lake Michigan this problem occurred but went away after restarting. I've had the bike in storage all winter without any power and after installing a new battery the side lights won't go off. Any suggestion about what is causing this.

Not that I know, however a total reboot ? Battery disconnected for a while, later reconnected and restarted???? That would be what I try first up.

Good luck
