R26 rear shocks dampened?

TWILLIS

New member
Hi all. I am new to the /2's. I have done a search but found no answer so I will just ask. I have a 56 R26. Do the rear shocks have dampening? And if so are they rebuild-able?

The rear shocks should have damping, but no, they are not rebuildable. And I'm not sure what's available as a replacement. On the twins, Works Performance makes a damper unit and Mark Huggett (www.bmwbike.com) in Switzerland has dampers. You might check to see if either has something for your single.

R26 dampening

Thanks for the replies and the links. Ikon shows 76-1291's for the R26 same as the R50. The link to what a slinger actually looks like was also very enlightening. Some of us need a picture to understand :laugh
