EAR PLUGS........what's the best / easiest to use ..??

I believe talk radio causes distraction...

The last moving violation, which was the first in maybe 15y, happened 3.5y ago when I was commuting home from work in my car and was listening to a podcast apparently intently enough to not notice I was doing 53mph in what amounted to a 35mph speed trap, justifiably located in that particular spot, and I knew better!

I use Bose Noise Cancelling ear buds plugged into my Sena. I can listen to my radio without much volume and it cuts the wind noise way down. I would hate to ride without them.

I’m all for custom molded earphones

I did get impressions made for custom molded earplugs last week. I am waiting for the earplugs to be done and delivered to the hearing specialist.

I am hopeful they will solve my ear pain problem on long road trips...

How does that work, "plugging" ear buds into Sena? Aren't the Bose buds bluetooth?

The new bose are Bluetooth but I have the older version. I think you have to get the older one of the internet.

Buds

Is it much of a problem getting the helmet over the ear buds without displacing them? On the wired ear buds I assume the chord will reach to shirt pocket.

Ear Plugs Galore, so many you may need a tour guide.

I have done the molded ear plugs, the molded ear plugs with speakers, and the super performance (and priced) ear plugs.

I finally found these people and bought a variety pack. Found out I favor the small size of one brand (Howard Leight Fusion Small) and ordered a few. Work great. They were very inexpensive. Whens the last time you could by 23 pairs of different types of ear plugs for 22.00 and change.

They also have variety packs of foam only plugs.

Take a trip on the wild side and order both.

Woo Hoo

Thank you for this link. I've looked without success for a company marketing ear plugs for folks with small ear canals and these guys offer several to try for not much money.

helmet clamp for earbuds - SenA

I don't get it--how do your buds connect to your sena?

You can buy a new cradle meant specifically for this type of ear bud set up. Comes without speakers.

I bought it and use it with these earbuds designed for sleeping. They are a snug fit, keeping out wind noise and do not need excessive volume. I've put about 10,000 miles on this so far and am happier than with almost all other combinations of foam plugs w speakers, Bose noise cancelling, etc...

Good Luck.

Well this is a timely ressurection of an old thread! I had a pair of molded (Ultimate ear, I think) that I got at a show- They were really good however I lost one of them). If I could get to a show I'd try that again but there don't seem to be any upcoming near me. I just ordered a pair online from Big Ear who sends a kit to make a mold then they make a plug from the mold you have made. On this site I found one complaint of their customer service but that several yerars ago so I took a chance. I am waiting for the product. They offer to re form plugs that don't fit right and the owner seems real responsive so far. I'll keep y'all posted. Bottom line: I've tried many kinds of ear protection and the custom molded have been the most effective and most comfortable.

I just picked up custom molded earplugs this afternoon from a hearing specialist in a nearby town. So molded plugs are widely available, and not just at motorcycle rallies or shows. The gal did impressions and sent them off to a lab in Virginia. I tried them on today and they work.

AND the only localish ear place wanted $80 each mine'll be 108 but yeah that was a consideration and I would have if this other didn't present itself. We'll see. To your point, I would think that a good audiologist could account for the unique needs of the motorcyclist (as opposed to the shooter, or the musician)

FWIW...a helmet liner skull cap works wonders in helping slide a helmet over ear buds, with the bonus it helps your head breath under the helmet. I particularly like the BMW version.

I got new molded earplugs for $65, which I thought was very reasonable. They aren't the fancier ones, with the channel and filter, just solid ones which is what the audiologist recommended.
