Flea Market no access?

Flea Market is Up!

The Flea Market has been activated within the Off-Topic area of the forum:

http://forums.forums.bmwmoa.orgdisplay.php?85-Flea-Market

It contains the same general categories as in the past. Please read the FAQs that are provided as a sticky post in the new Flea Market area.

Unfortunately, none of the current ads from the old Flea Market could be extracted for use here. Therefore, new ads will need to be reposted. Please use the same style as the old Flea Market. One thread per item. Provide a clear title to your thread. Include the price, contact information, descriptions, and pictures or links as required.

As is the policy of the general forum area, do not use your technical posts in other parts of the forum to alert or advertise that you have something posted in the Flea Market. If that is done, you're post in the technical area will be deleted. Continued misuse of the Flea Market in this way may result in you being banned from the forum.

Probably should have thought about it BEFORE the upgrade!:scratch

Don - it is not where it was - it is in the regular forum. Scroll down to the bottom of the forum topics.

OK, lets see. The old version of VBulletin was corrupted and needed to be replaced. But the old flea market was a home built, so couldn't be used as it was.

So, lets keep the whole forum down until we can invent a new home built fix for the flea market and make it work.

I don't think so.

Adult scammers need to be in jail and cute middle schooler hackers need to be put places with whale oil lamps and wood fires, with no electricity to screw up other folks computers.

Then we can all be perky and cheery again, and only argue about oil, tires, and final drives.

Many thanks to you Paul, I would have to assume our Forum Administrators are fully aware that when you go to www.bmwmoa.org there is still a clickable Flea Market link up at the top of the Home Page that goes to NOWHERE!

Why is the flea market gone? VERY useful and integral $ benefit to membership. I use cash from selling cycle stuff to pay for membership dues.
Magazine is top notch but bring back flea market.

Syl, you're probably doing what I was doing: Clicking Flea Market Icon on the Home Page, but it takes you to NOWHERESVILLE! Instead, click this Syl:

http://forums.forums.bmwmoa.orgdisplay.php?85-Flea-Market Probably most of us are still clicking the Home Page Flea Market Icon, should be removed!

I discussed this issue with the St. Louis office staff today. They plan on changing the Home Page link to the Flea Market to point to the new in-forum Flea Market. Once that is done, all roads will lead to the Market!!!

Ok,

So the bulliten board needed to be upgraded.
The old Flea Market was a home brew, but why is it gone?

I like the old format MUCH better.

And it seems any negative comments are nipped in the bud (Thread locked in the flea market about the format change)
And the update page also does not allow comments.

Where do we go to ask for updates (or downgrades) we as members may want??

The old Flea Market had to be built separately since it was not a supplied part of VBulletin. The resources for rebuilding the Flea Market are not avaiable to do that. So, the interim solution was to create an in-forum Flea Market. When the new forum comes along in the next few months, the older style Flea Market will likely be back. I showed what the initial look was like in this link...notice the the Flea Market tab is located across the top:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The upper level of the Flea Market is closed for posting as there is no reason to post there...the idea is to go to one of the areas within the Flea Market to post an ad. There are other places that you can, and people already have, discussed the new forum. Some of those places are:

http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?65163-New-Flea-Market
http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?65117-Flea-Market-in-the-Forum-is-Doomed
http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?65335-new-fleamarket-format-is-exactly-as-it-should-be

So, if you have some comments about the current state of the Flea Market, there's plenty of places to read what others are saying and voice your opinion. If you see it differently, please let me know.
