Suggested Routes To Rally From Ottawa Ontario

I'll be attending my first MOA rally in Lima this year (staying in Findlay, 30 mi north). It's about 1200 kms (720 miles) from home to Findlay. I'm planning on taking 2 days - Tues/Wed. I'll be crossing the Can/US border at Ogdensburg NY, then heading SW through the Finger Lakes region (around Watkins Glen, NY). I'm looking for suggestions for routes through Pennsylvania and Ohio (or even for alternate routes through NY, for that matter). I just got a Garmin 276C GPS two weeks ago, so I'm now dangerous when it comes to navigation. I also have state maps of NY, PA and OH. When I received my PA travel package they made a big deal out of travelling Rt 6 (picked by National Geographic as one of the best drives in the US, though maybe not on a bike in July). Should I head west on Rt 6 for part of the way? Any ideas most appreciated.
