I would save your money. Sure, there might be some spots that because of the traffic flow, terrain, visibility, etc. that allow for frequent speed enforcement, but most occurs from random "meetings." And as others have noted, just because someone reported seeing a patrol car somewhere 2 weeks ago doesn't mean that there's always going to be one there, or even that the cop was specifically looking to pull someone over.
Precisely. The best radar detecter is between your ears.
Something was wrong with yours Tom. Even in town mine's pretty quiet. False signals are really rare.
To OP,
Yes I have it downloaded on my 660 and is extremely useful.
It is NOT for radar reports.
It is for land located speed cams and red light cams that do not move. Does a good job.
I have a C3 with SRC and it comes through as a "ding ding" and shows up on display as speed cam. I prolly will update it manually (no subscription) on a yealy basis.
I bought this as a one-time down load for my Nav 4 on my K16GT and it's already saved my bacon a few times and truth be told, nearly gotten me rear ended too. Yesterday, I was coming up to a green light on a road with a 55 mph speed limit when I got the "ding ding" about the same moment as the light turning yellow. I had to get on the brakes pretty hard and still put my front tire in the cross walk but as I'm coming to a stop I'm watching my mirror for the guy behind me in a Buick diving on his brakes. I was ready to pull the trigger to keep going if he didn't stop but he did. If he hadn't been paying close attention it could have gotten interesting.
I seem to remember reading in one of the auto magazines that red light cameras actually cause accidents like this and that the accident rate at intersections are higher than before they were equipped with cameras.
They're popping up all over the place around here and I'll probably get another $12 update to it about once a year. It also includes speed cameras and I've even gotten pop up warnings for what it called a "Mobile speed camera."
Y'all be careful out there.
