BMW Ralley 3 Jacket and Pants

Pondering buying a new" Ralley 3" BMW Jacket and Pants. Are they really worth it? Jacket $879.00 Pants $579.00 I get a little week in the knees just thinking of the price. Second hesitation is I like the Blue and Silver but the largest size it comes in is a EU 60. I need a 62 or 64. and I would have to get the Black (gun) and Yellow The Jacket and pants are 90% Black and I live in Tucson Arizona. How good is the venting? Probably would have to be a three season outfit.

I would like to hear others opinions and thoughts before I mortgage the house to buy them.

Don't know if this is a valid comparison, but I was disappointed with the longevity of the previous version of that suit, the Rallye 2 Pro. The suit was great while it lasted and provided enough protection to require only a few small patches after a low side on asphalt. It was cool enough in the summer and with the liner and heated gear was OK for the mild winters we get in the SF Bay Area. It kept me dry.

Perhaps I'm too used to Aerostich gear that wears forever. I expected more than 4 years use. At the end of 4 years (about 50 thousand miles) the pants were barely wearable. The internal mesh that holds the armor was finally beyond repair (I started repairing it after about 2 1/2 years), one of the waist adjusters had broken off for the second time (and I used the pants with suspenders), and whatever material they used at the top of the pants was quite frayed where it would catch on the jacket velcro -- common when standing with the jacket unzipped and open or sitting with the jacket on the back of a chair.

I went back to Aerostich gear.

Have the Rally 3 set up and am quite happy with it

If you are planning to wear it in hot weather you may have to omit the waterproof liner else you will bake.

Used in on a Trans-Lab run and worked great including a 50 degree day with 10 hours of rain. Please note I had my gerbing liner but the jackets waterproof liner worked great

I love the armor and back protection - it is a heavy jacket but not once its on

The pants are comfortable and fairly adjustable.

Thanks Semper Fi. Well I just bought the Black (gun) and yellow today. Silver and Blue only available up to EU60. Needed the EU62 and the EU60 pants. Was given a favorable discount that help me make a decision plus I bought a KLIM jacket and pants at the same time. Never thought I would spend that much money on riding gear although I did spend $5-600.00 for a Harley leather jacket ten years ago. Still have it and still looks new.

Thanks for the info and reference to the article. I will be test flying the new suit tomorrow.

I have the Rallye 3 suit in the grey blue . I couldn't be happier with it . I use it year around . Been out in 18 degree weather ,and up to 95 degrees (not as warm as where you are . Hugh improvement over the Aerostitch .
