Reminds me of a /2 I modified a couple years ago...... in photoshop :jester

Wow, sounds great with the old style mufflers on the Oilhead engine, especially without all the clatter noise common to the old Airheads.

I recall, over 15 years ago, an article in the ON about a buildup of a /2 chassis with an R100 engine, and the disc brakes from the late 70's, on a Earles front fork. Made a really cool bike out of it.

I have always thought BMW should never have built the R1200C like it was. But instead build a modern interpretation of the /2, or an R69S, with the Oilhead engine. That would have been a classic BMW cruiser much more than trying to emulate some flat-twin style of a Harley or a typical American cruiser.
 
No PS here, real VW conversions have been around for years. A buddy of mine had a /2-1600cc VW rig to tug his Velorex. It wasn't fast, but you could pull stumps with it... provided the final drive didn't pack it in.

Several companies offered conversion kits; this one is by Butterfield I think.
