My daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live in Olathe, so I get out there from time to time.
There is a lot of interesting history in that area.
1986 K75C - traded in for:
2003 R1150RT - Sold to make way for:
2015 R1200GS Alpine White
Kansas was later the site of a great legal battle, Brown v. Board of Education, in which the U.S. Supreme Court abolished the "separate but equal" doctrine:
"We conclude that, in the field of public education, the doctrine of "separate but equal" has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal. Therefore, we hold that the plaintiffs and others similarly situated for whom the actions have been brought are, by reason of the segregation complained of, deprived of the equal protection of the laws guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment."
I was almost heading to Topeka to get some shots of the Brown Vs Board of Ed Historic sight but ran out of time, but yous are absolutely right! Another huge piece to continuation of the civil rights movement.
