Can someone who knows the rally site suggest a time/place where sidecarists can gather to meet, greet and show off our hardware?

Edited 31 May to add...
Check out post #21 for plan of attack!

Maybe something extremely informal.
A gathering at point X on Fri or Sat around 9-10AM...an hour or two of kicking tires/telling lies...a short ride...lunch...
We could certainly have it put in the rally schedule.
I will attempt to contact the rally chairperson (?) in charge of events and see what I can arrange.

I had a banner. That helped... :brow

Make some signs w/ stakes and bring them with you. :bikes

Identify an area and broadcast it here during the rally. :type

Bring a pad and sharpie and leave a note on hacks that you see. I used post-it notes. (color stands out) :deal

Not all that I invited showed either... Some have plans etc so those who want to be there will.

Good Luck!

I sent you a private message. If you don't receive it, please drop me a note at austin01@juno.com.

Thanks, Mark

Sounds great Mark...stand by Boyz and Gurlz...we may have something set up soon!

:dance

I don't know if it was planned

but at the Ohio rally a sidecar gathering materialized and there must have been 20 rigs that showed up. It quickly gathered a rather large crowd! :bow

Sidecars On the Square...

...is the name given to the sidecar gathering at the 2011 National in Bloomburg.
Police Chief Leo ( yes, Leo is his name) has given the OK for a sidecar gathering in Market square (at the fountain) in downtown Bloomburg, on Saturday, July 23rd at 11am.
There will be a sidecar seminar from 9-10:30am at the rally site, then we will ride to the centre of town for a meet and greet with fellow hackers and curious locals. Around noon, we will break for a 'meat' and greet at a local restaurant (La Fontana?). Following the meal, hackers will disperse.
We have permission, but please consider this as 'insider' information until it becomes official. Check event listings to confirm.
...two sidecar events at one rally...WOW...

Would this local restaurant happen to have a dog-friendly outside patio? At least one hungry hound would like to know...

The Restaurant I am looking at (nothing reserved yet) has six outside tables (patio), seating for a total of 24. I will ask if they are dog friendly.
The restaurant in question is right next to, as in 'the other side of sidewalk' from where the rigs will be parked. Worse case scenario, could 'Fido' relax in the tub while you eat 6-10ft away?

I take zero credit for the seminar, but that will be our departure point.

I'm not sure. I was so worried about him being separated from me a thousand miles from home that I taught him to "home" on me. It's been a struggle to unlearn that behavior, but I have a few weeks of training plus the trip to the RA and back to work it out.

Thanks for checking.

Pete

Because of a new activity recently added, we will likely have to depart the square by 12h45. I will look into a short ride to food.
The square will likely be invaded by three successive waves of motorcycles (sidecars, RSs, vintage).
I will keep you posted.

Any reason why you guys and gals can't claim an open grassy section on-site for a few hours to gather and BS after leaving the square?

When we leave the square, it will be almost 1pm. I plan on being VERY hungry. I would rather gather and BS (Beef Steak) at a table.

I'm kind of a loner. After 11/2hrs of seminar...11/2hrs of meet and greet on the square and then lunch, I will likely be 'socialized' out.
I have nothing against keeping the pack together once back at the site, even if it's just the rigs for rally goers to gawk at.
Your idea has been noted.

That's what we did in Redmond w/ our Cruisers... Parked in one area and headed over to the beer tent.
During the course of the day/evening we'd walk back and forth to talk about things and discuss mods etc.

That many of the coolest looking bike in one spot always drew a crowd! :ha

Here's an early shot as we were gathering up...
