Bungee Cord Recommendations

I've just acquired the BMW 30-liter duffel and realized that I have yet to buy "bungee cords" or straps to secure this and other stuff to my K1300S. Can any of you make some recommendations on what I should consider getting?

I'm not sure if I should get straps that have some measure of elasticity in them or if I want ones with no stretch. I've seen H2W Super Packing straps and Strapz advertised in the ON Magazine (but not sure about velcro as a latch... shouldn't it be a good mechanical device)? Thanks.

The Helen's straps are great! No velcro, kind of a d-ring system. You DO NOT want bungees. I'm sure the good folks here will give you lots of reasons! Those little hooks are evil for one.

Rok

Many different lengths. I don't like the ends of bungees cords, ever slip and have one hit you or your MC.

Rokstraps or bungie nets. It's too easy to lose a load using straight bungies. DAMHIK

I love my rok straps and have even used them off the bike. In fact two of them have been securely holding a deer camera to a tree the last 3 months.

Near where I live I see bungee cords in the street all the time.

Ever wonder what else is missing?

I prefer solid straps to secure everything but my morning newspaper.

+1

The only thing that i use bungee's for is a bungee net to hold the liner of my jacket. I wouldn't trust anything valuable to those....

I also use the H2W straps and have for something like 100k miles; with no failures.

If you mean the 50 liter duffel, it comes with straps.

The tailbag also comes with straps.

Looks like there is a near consensus on the RokStrapz -- thank you as they appear to be the clear winner.

kgadley01,you seem to be the one outlier who doesn't like the RokStrapz. Can you tell me why? Thanks.

Rok Straps are nice for lighter loads but for a fully packed 30 liter duffel I want some real D-ring straps that I can cinch down tight so the duffel exactly stays where I put it.

I've got the tailbag and love it. Best bag I have ever had on the back of the bike. ( And I have had a few bags on the back of me bike)

I leave my $1000, 49 liter hard bag at home.

Safety straps

I have the tail bag and use the straps that came with it. But, I also went to the hardware store and got some 1 inch webbing and plastic buckles, similar to those supplied and made an extra set of straps that go through the handle on around the stock luggage rack as safety straps.
