gas can

Does anyone have any information on the gas can thats strapped to the top of the saddlebag on the GS thats featured in the "Sand, Spiniflex & Termite Mound" story.
 
My take is that the side case is missing the lid and the gas can is partially resting inside it.
 
I agree, after I enlarged the picture of the bike on its side it was apparent that there was no lid on the bag. At first I thought someone had made a low profile can for on top of saddlebags.
