Shuttle boarding sites?

Many of us attending this motorcycle convention are scattered between the Civic Center and the U of C campus.

Where and how do we board the shuttle without hiking to one end or the other? Is there a map posted?

Shuttle Boarding sites

There will be a map with the shuttle routing in the Rally program.

Remember, this is a shuttle service, not a taxi service. The buses will run on a route that will serve as many downtown area hotels as possible and also the three camping areas. You may not get picked up or dropped off at your doorstep, but it won't be a far walk.

The shuttle bus service will be free, all you will have to do is show your wristband.

Will the shuttles run all day, and will they stop at all the campgrounds, not just U of C campus?

Walk to Magic Island?

From looking at the rally map, Magic Island does not look as far as the U of C campus. However, the pictures shown on the web site look as if the only way to cross the river from Magic Island to the Civic Center is over an 8-lane expressway.

Is there any "safe" pedestrian traffic way over the bridge to/from Magic Island to/from the Civic Center?

Magic Island

Magic Island is an island in name only. In reality it is not an island, and there is no river to cross.

I think the river he is referring to, is the Elk River. If memory serves me, the eight lane road is a boulevard or parkway and is pedestrian freindly. The "island" is a wide part of the river bank and abuts the boulevard.

Stuff

Shuttle buses will run in the evenings only from 1800-0045. Routes will be in your Rally program.

Magic Island is an easy walk to the Civic Center, just a couple of blocks. Magic Island is not really an island, it is not even really a peninsular. It is firmily attached to the mainland. Kanawha Blvd is four lanes wide, not eight wide. The city police will reduce the traffic flow to one lane each way with the remaining areas being coned off and signed for motorcycles only tpo aid in safely crossing the street and for ease of entry and exit from Magid Island for our bikes. The Interstate 64 is elevated in this area, so you walk under it as opposed to dashing across it. All the bridges crossing the Elk river have pedestrian sidewalks.
