2005 R1200GS heated grips not working?

'07 gsa;

All heat works at idle warming up the engine, including my vest, driving lights, both headlights. These new bikes are awesome in electrics. Randy:thumb

Well, my Haynes manual just showed up the other day, so I won't feel as concerned about taking stuff off now. It's pretty cold here though, so I don't know when that might be. There won't be any ride tests, since we got around 4" snow today.
:(

I still haven't taken the throttle apart, it's been a bit cold to work out in my garage still. I did think of another question for you guys. If there is a fault or some such, is it possible for the bike to know, and if that's the case would it put an indicator on the dash? Or would there be something a code reader could pick up?
Thanks!

Well, took the control cluster off today, and it looks like the switch is ok. I tested the leads that I assume go to the actual heating element in the right grip while I had it apart, and it isn't indicating an open circuit so I assume that means it's probably ok.

Whats my next step? Dealer to plug it into a code reader?
