Non existent vs existent

So.Here we have a brand new forum title for a bike that has not yet been released...yet all my sparse lobbying efforts to have a separate 1998 -2004 K/RS/GT title have been rebuffed by the forum powers that be and we have been lumped in with the traditional K forum.

Please set up a forum heading for the K bike from 1998 - 2004,a distinct marque, and separate us from the K bikes of yesteryear. We have almost nothing in common with the 3 cylinder Ks!!!

Any takers?

Thanks.:bikes

I don't have one of these, but it seems a fair request. Can you come up with a good title for the forum? K2 Bikes?

I agree.
There were bricks from '85 to '89, four valve ones from '90 to '97, and then the '98 to '04. They were all pretty distinctly different from each other. The triples should be separate.

+1 on the RS/GT forum. These bikes represented the ultimate evolution of the shift to modern motorcycling that BMW made in the early 80's.

Best,

GTRider

Just wanted to get back to the question posed and not leave it hanging.

First of all thanks for the suggestion - the moderation team is always looking for ways to improve and enhance the forum - so all suggestions are reviewed whether they are formally submitted by a forum member or something seen or noted by a moderator and then it is brought up to the team

As this suggestion was discussed between the moderators we have come up with a fully agreed concensus by the team that fragmentation of the bike forums into further sub-forums to capture each variation of a bike's lifecycle is not a particularly good thing to do as it adds confusion and makes searches harder.

Specifically to the KBrick forum there are many similarities between bikes and creating forums for every bike out there would be confusing.

In foresight there is a sticky placed in the forum by the KBrick Moderator to specifically callout the bike and year the poster would be referencing in any post relating to the bike (http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?t=46057)

So based on the fragmentation and search issues, and supported by the proper classification of the bike in question in the thread it should provide adequate information in both explaining what the post is about and searching requirements, additional structuring of the KBrick forum is not required.

If that's true, you should move the Airheads, Oilheads, Hexheads, and Camheads into one forum.

I agree with the Oilheads, Hexheads, and Camheads in one forum as being equivalent to all Flying Bricks in one forum - but Airheads? An oilhead and an airhead have nothing in common other than they are opposed twins.
