Hotel Recommendation for Dolomites?

gunnert

Biker
Two couples, riding two up, heading for the Alps on 30 Jun. We're renting bikeds (GT and RT) our of Munich. Pickup bikes on 2 July and return them morning 14 July. We'll be spending first three nights in Hinterthal Austria and last three nights in Garmish. Looking at splitting the remainder of time between Dolomites (Arabba/Corvara area) and Lake Garda.
Any recommendaton for accomadations in either location. Budget is 100-150 Euro with half board per room. Dolomites area we'll be riding. Lake Garda we'll be partying like teenagers. (both couples 40/50 years old).

I rode the area a couple of years ago and went there without reservations. There are plenty of resort areas that cater heavily to winter sports. Thus, finding accomodations in the summer time should not be a problem (we were there in early September - vacations in August are huge for Europeans). At the end of the day when we decided to stop at the next town on the way, we usually rolled in to the visitors center and were able to secure accomodations within a few minutes. It really helped not having to be at a particular location just because we had reservations.

Enjoy your trip. The Dolomites was one of the best places I ever rode. Just keep an eye on your mirror. There will be a lot of bikes that time of year riding real hard.

Have a look at Global Touring's website; there might be some recommendations. I would think Alex is over there right now.

In his Alps touring book, John Hermann notes the Hotel Evalda in Arraba, and Hotel Posta Zirm, Pension La Fontana, and Gasthof Alisander, in Corvara. The New York Times suggests staying in La Villa (Wengen), north of Corvara.

The following information was from a friend of mine who did an extended business trip in the Alps.

Search www.moho.info which is a list of guest houses and hotels that offer special services for the motorcycle touring visitor.
Among many riding places, including the Passo Stelvio, most all of Tirol or Tyrolia is glorious riding, lovely towns, and happy content people. Arabba and Merano stick in mind as being simply glorious places to spend the night. I enjoyed Tamsweg, the Hotel Gamswirt in Tansweg is motorcycle friendly and it is really clean. The Hotel Malita in Arraba is lovely. Merano is a paradise, full of grapes vines, fruit trees, and the Alps at your window.

http://www.albertinivacanze.com/Home.html Very motorcyclist friendly.

Evaldo is very nice, a garage for the bikes, power washer should you want to waste time cleaning, instead of riding, Laundry, good food at dinner, one of the best breakfast spreads in the Alps, Spa and nice indoor and outdoor pools, should you be able to convince the Pillions to take a day to relax, so you can go rip it up solo.

Great riding area, but be cautious if you charge hard, there is fine sand in the area that is impossible to see, but slippery none the less.

hotel in dolomites

look up a small town call Brixton. It has a different name in the neighboring country. A small river runs thru the city, great hotels, etc.

I was...for 6 1/2 weeks of pure torture. :D

A bit late for a recommendation, but I stayed at Hotel Olympia for Ôé¼49 per night which included breakfast and dinner. The hotel had garage parking and was packed with motorcyclists. Obviously a popular hotel.

The view from my room was priceless, as usual...

I did stop in at Hotel Evaldo when I arrived, but their prices were way out there for a hotel that was no better than Hotel Olympia.
