122,000 BMW motorbikes recalled in brake scare
By Peter Woodman, Press Association

Thousands of BMW motorcycles, including some owned by British bikers, are being recalled because of a possible brake problem, it was revealed today.

The recall, believed to involve around 122,000 machines worldwide, covers various versions of six models.

These include the R 1200 GS Adventure model, versions of which were ridden by Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor in their 2007 Long Way Down biking adventure.

Letters received by British owners of the bikes said vibrations could cause the front brake lines to develop leaks which could allow brake fluid to escape which could lead to a failure of the front brakes.

The other models involved are the R 1200 GS, the R 1200 R, the R 1200 RT, the R 1200 ST and the K 1200 GT.

I just bought a 1 year old R1200R. How do let BMW know I'm now the owner for recall notices?
