Magnetic tranny drain plug?

I got one:)

My favorite BMW dealer mechanic pointed it out to me:) and gave me one. The plug on the FD of the KLT is the same thread as the tranny drain plug on my GSA1200 and IS magnetic! I have the magnetic plug on my TRANNY now and the motor too, which is actually different from the tranny. Why so many different size plugs is a puzzle to me! Go look see, it works. I just did this a few months ago to mine. Happy Trails, Randy

The plug on the FD of the KLT is the same thread as the tranny drain plug on my GSA1200 and IS magnetic!

If that is the case, its a M14 x 1.5 thread and part number 11-13-1-744-329.

But the R1200 RT parts diagram for the transmission shows the drain plug (item 12) with 2 part numbers and different descriptions...M14 x 1.5 and M18 x 1.5. So they either changed the drain plug during the production run, or they have a typo. Same for the transmission filler plug. :dunno

I have the magnetic plug on my TRANNY now and the motor too.

I also use a Filter Plus on my engine oil filter. A magnet off an old computer drive will also work.

I was surprised to find an OEM "magnetic" engine oil drain plug on my car, and that, with two engine oil filters installed. Talk about overkill.
