    Links to women focused sites

I was thinking about when I learned to ride I read EVERYTHING I could to increase my skills and knowledge about riding. Back in the 70's we had no internet, but I read all of the motorcycle magazines I could cover to cover!

Now, we have LOTS of great information at our fingertips on the internet. And a lot of the sites are women focused. So I thought I'd share a few of my favorites here and hope to read of many more . . . .

This was one I followed for weeks of Doris Wiedemann, when she rode from Key West to Prudhoe Bay with R Sjaak in January, February and March of this year. It's a blog of 35 episodes.

Caters a bit towards new riders. One feature that I like is her table on bikes for "short" riders. Its a pretty decent summary of stock bikes and modifications made by riders to get a better fit.

I'm currently following a young woman's journey on ADVrider forum. She's been on the road for over two months, so it's a lengthy thread plus lots of comments/advice, etc. Her photos are awesome.... sometimes I just scroll down 'til I see her pictures. Wish I could take two months off and ride!

Here's a site from a woman named Annette Birkmann. She's a Danish attorney who quit her job and moved to Buenos Aires to work in a motorcycle shop (knowing nothing about Spanish or motorcycle repair). She then proceeded to ride solo to the southern tip of South America then back up north through Mexico and into the U.S. She's been across the country several times since then and finds work as a motivational speaker (she did a seminar in Gillette). She is currently on her way from Florida to the west coast on Senor Dakar, her F650. She blogs on a semi-regular basis. http://annettebirkmann.com
