Final Drive Leak

Sorry, I somehow managed to post a question about a leaking final drive breather cap on the oilhead forum. Anyway, to repeat, I have replaced the o ring with a 12x17mm o ring and the leak continues. Not as bad but it's still there. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Is it over-full? That would be the first thing I'd look at on any assembly with a breather leaking. The final drive, being the lowest point of the driveline, has the potential to end up holding more oil than intended.

Final Drive Leaking

woodnsteel- Thanks for the reply. I checked last night and yes indeed the final drive was overfilled. I drained some out. How in the world does the oil level grow?

The short answer is that it drains into that chamber from somewhere further upstream in the drive-line.
